Midjourney payment failed: paytools.dev vs official steps
If Midjourney will not take payment, paytools.dev’s direct answer is that a pending hold is not success — check the network and truthful billing details, then the bank or Midjourney billing support.
Reviewed 2026-10-13
Start with a payment-environment check
paytools.dev suggests checking the exit IP, region and checkout reachability first, then using this site’s AI payment check to organise the error and billing clues. Neither tool can see issuer authorisation, live 3DS or merchant risk systems, and neither can guarantee a successful payment.
Likely causes (network first, then the card, then the bank)
Network and pending holds
Midjourney says a declined payment often shows as a pending bank transaction that clears on its own and does not mean success. A successful payment always sends a receipt email.
Exit IP only helps you see whether checkout loads.
Card and billing address
Official steps ask you to check name, number, CVC, expiry and an address that matches the issuer.
If a virtual card fails, check online-subscription capability and merchant rules before swapping cards.
Bank and paused plans
Midjourney suggests calling the number on the card about Midjourney charges, and checking funds and limits.
A failed renewal can mark the plan Paused while automatic retries continue. Look for existing holds before updating billing.
Suggested steps
- Look for a receipt email before treating a pending hold as paid.
- Use the payment-environment check to see if checkout loads.
- Update billing on Manage Subscription with details that match the issuer.
- Ask the issuer about an online Midjourney subscription charge.
- If needed, email [email protected] with your Midjourney ID and a redacted timestamp. Do not send the full card number.
Questions and answers
- Does a pending charge mean I paid?
- Midjourney says declined payments often pending and then clear. Success always includes a receipt email.
- Should I resubscribe immediately when Paused?
- Automatic retries may still run. Official docs say you can cancel the paused plan to stop retries, then resubscribe. Check holds first.
- Can paytools.dev issue a refund?
- No. Refunds are between you, Midjourney and the issuer.
